Cost and scope
How much does PDF-to-CAD conversion cost?
The cost of converting a PDF drawing into editable CAD depends on the information to reproduce, the quality of the source and the required deliverable. Send representative sheets and your requirements so the work can be reviewed and quoted against a clear scope.
Explore pdf and scanned drawings to cad →Start with the drawing content, not just the sheet count
Two drawing packages can have the same number of sheets and require very different amounts of work. A simple plan with a few labels is different from a dense sheet containing several views, schedules, dimensions and detailed notes.
Identify what you actually need reproduced. You may need the complete sheet, a particular plan or selected details. Marking that boundary helps the quote reflect the useful work rather than an assumption that everything on every page is required.
Source quality affects the review and redraw
A readable PDF gives the reviewer a different starting point from a faint scan with missing edges or unclear dimensions. Share the original digital PDF where available, together with any clearer reference sheets. Repeated screenshots or compressed copies can make small text harder to inspect.
Point out known gaps before the quote. Illegible notes, contradictory dimensions and missing information need a clarification plan. A redraw reproduces the supplied information; it does not make an uncertain measurement verified.
Define what editable CAD needs to mean for your team
Describe how the finished file will be used. Required units, file version, layers, text, layouts and sheet organization can all affect the agreed work. Include a company CAD standard or a sample DWG if the result needs to fit an existing drawing set.
Also distinguish reproduction from changes. If you want updates applied while the drawing is redrawn, provide the markups and identify the current source revision. New architectural or engineering design remains outside the standard redraw service.
- Which sheets, views and details are included?
- What CAD file version, units and drawing standards are required?
- Are layouts, title blocks or additional outputs needed?
- Are supplied markups to be applied, or is this a reproduction of the source?
For a larger package, show its range
A representative sample should show both ordinary sheets and the more difficult material. Include the total sheet count, the different drawing types and any repeated formats. One unusually clear sheet may not represent an entire archive.
Share your requested deadline and any useful delivery stages. The scope, capacity and timing need to be agreed for the actual package. A larger quantity alone does not establish a particular rate or discount.
Compare quotes against the same requirements
Check that each quote covers the same source information, outputs, standards and handling of unclear details. A price is more meaningful when you know what is included and which questions still need answers.
CAD Redraw reviews your source and requirements before confirming the scope, price and timing. A preliminary budget indication is not the approved project quote. If your material is incomplete, describe what is missing so the review can identify the next useful step.

What to send with your request
- Representative PDFs, including a typical and a difficult sheet
- Total sheet count and the content to reproduce
- Required file version, units and CAD standard
- Markups, references and known uncertainties
- Intended use and requested deadline

Request a quoteCommon questions
Can you quote from one sample sheet?
A sample can help begin the discussion. For a larger package, also provide the total quantity and explain how the other sheets differ. Additional review may be needed before the complete scope and price can be confirmed.
Will the CAD redraw verify the dimensions?
Redraw reproduces the agreed source information. It does not independently establish field dimensions, design correctness or code compliance. Unclear or conflicting information is raised for clarification.
Should I send the original PDF or a screenshot?
Send the original PDF if available. If you only have images, send the clearest available copies and explain what other source material exists. The reviewer can then discuss any limitations.
